Collection: Just Desserts
The term “dessert” dates back to the 14th century, originating from the French word desservir, meaning "to clear the table" but attained its current meaning around the beginning of the 20th century when "service à la française" (setting a variety of dishes on the table at the same time) was replaced with "service à la russe" (presenting a meal in courses.)"
The course “Dessert” usually consists of sweet foods, such as confections, biscuits, cakes, cookies, custards gelatins, ice creams, pastries, pies, puddings, sweet soups, and tarts and possibly a beverage such as dessert wine or liqueur. It may also include coffee, cheeses, nuts, or other savory items regarded as a separate course. Fruit is also commonly found in dessert courses because of its naturally occurring sweetness. Some cultures sweeten foods that are more commonly savory to create desserts.
Whether it is a mouthwatering Tiramisu or a chocolate covered pear bursting with flavor, you'll find all the best of our best dessert recipes in this ultimate family favorite recipe collection.
