The Health Craft Cookware Story — Since 1970

The story of Health Craft Cookware began in 1970 in Rahway, New Jersey, when Charles Knight entered the cookware business through personal cooking demonstrations. What began with a simple idea—show people how better cookware and better cooking methods could help them prepare healthier meals—grew into a lifelong mission and a family business that has now served customers for more than 55 years.

From the beginning, he focused on waterless and greaseless cooking: using controlled temperatures and quality multi-ply stainless steel cookware to prepare vegetables with minimal added water and many meats with little or no added cooking fat. The philosophy was straightforward: preserve the food's natural moisture, flavor and texture while teaching families a practical approach to healthier home cooking.

From the Kitchen to Television

Knight recognized that cookware demonstrations were really cooking lessons, and television provided an opportunity to teach far more people. By the 1980s, Health Craft was producing television infomercials, and Knight later appeared with Tampa broadcasting personality Jack Harris on the Food Network and worked with pioneering television chef Chef Tell. His career eventually expanded from live cooking demonstrations to television, cooking schools, instructional programs and cookbook publishing.

His culinary background became an important part of the Health Craft identity. Rather than simply selling pots and pans, the company emphasized how cookware performs, how temperature affects food, and how cooking techniques can influence the finished meal.

Built for Generations

Over the decades, Health Craft cookware evolved along with the American kitchen—from traditional electric and gas ranges to today's induction cooking technology. Current Health Craft cookware includes multi-ply stainless steel construction, magnetic induction-ready exteriors and Steam Control vented lids.

Yet the company's philosophy has remained remarkably consistent: cookware should be durable, functional and designed to help people cook well for decades—not simply until the next cookware trend arrives.

More Than Cookware

Over time, Health Craft's original focus on healthy cooking developed into a broader philosophy built around four fundamentals of healthier living: the air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat and a deep, restful night's sleep. That philosophy led Health Craft beyond cookware into air and water purification and other healthy-living products.

Today, Health Craft remains a family-owned company based in Tampa, Florida, continuing the personal service and cooking education that began more than half a century ago.
