SLOPPY JONES RECIPE in Honor of Deacon Jones who appeared with me and Jack Harris on Harris & Co. Live from Busch Gardens in early 2000.

Deacon Jones was a former American football defensive end who played in the National Football League NFL for 14 seasons from 1961 to 1974. He was one of the most dominant defensive players in the history of the league and was known for his incredible speed and power on the field. Despite playing in an era when sacks were not officially recorded, Jones is widely considered to be one of the greatest pass rushers of all time.

Off the field, Jones was an advocate for civil rights and a mentor to many young players. He was also a successful businessman and co-founded the Deacon Jones Foundation, which aims to help underprivileged youth reach their full potential through education, mentoring, and other programs.

Sadly, Jones passed away in 2013 at the age of 74, but his legacy lives on through his contributions to the sport of football and his commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

THE HISTORY OF SLOPPY JOES

Sloppy Joes are a beloved American sandwich that has been a staple in school cafeterias and homes for decades. But have you ever wondered who invented this iconic sandwich? The origins of the Sloppy Joe sandwich are a bit hazy, but there are a few theories about its creation.

One theory is that the Sloppy Joe was invented by a cook named Joe in Sioux City, Iowa, in the 1930s. Joe reportedly added tomato sauce to ground meat and served it on a bun, creating the first Sloppy Joe sandwich. Another theory is that the Sloppy Joe was created by a chef named Joe at a restaurant in Havana, Cuba, in the early 1900s. This version of the sandwich is made with ground beef, onions, and tomato sauce, and served on a roll.

Regardless of its origin, the Sloppy Joe quickly became a popular sandwich in the United States. Its messy, saucy goodness has made it a favorite among kids and adults alike. Today, there are many variations of Sloppy Joe, including vegetarian versions made with lentils or tofu.
