BAKED TUNA DIP with Toast Points

PREPARATION: 30 minutes – makes 6 to 8 servings

EQUIPMENT: 1-quart saucepan, Food Cutter, two 1 cup 8-ounce Ramekins for baking and serving, 12x10 stainless steel baking sheet.

INGREDIENTS:

  • ·       2 or 3 thick strips of bacon cooked crispy, chopped and set aside
  • ·       ½ cup Swiss cheese, grated cutting cone #2 or #3
  • ·       4-ounces cream cheese. Softened to room temperature.
  • ·       1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • ·       8-ounces canned tuna drained
  • ·       1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • ·       1 Teaspoon Lemon Pepper (or fresh Lemon Juice and Pepper)
  • ·       1/4 teaspoon Garlic Salt (use very little or fresh garlic minced fine and salt)
  • ·       2 slices toasted Rye Bread
  • ·       2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ·       1/2 teaspoon Paprika or 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • ·       2 tablespoon fresh chives chopped

DIRECTIONS

Cook the bacon crispy, chop and set aside.

This Creamy Tuna Delight combines the rich flavors of Swiss cheese, cream cheese, and mayonnaise, offering a delectable dish that's both satisfying and healthy. Swiss cheese is a great source of calcium and protein, while tuna is packed with omega-3 fatty acids that contribute to heart health.

To prepare this dish, you'll need your 1-quart saucepan. Start by combining the Swiss cheese, cream cheese, and mayonnaise in the saucepan. Warm the mixture over low heat, maintaining a temperature between 175F to 200F for about 5 minutes, or until the Swiss cheese melts to create a creamy base.

Next, stir in the tuna along with a sprinkle of Old Bay Seasoning, lemon pepper, and garlic salt. Mix thoroughly to combine all the flavors, creating a savory delight that pairs perfectly with your toast points, or your favorite crackers or fresh vegetables.

Preheat your oven to broil. Next, take your prepared Tuna Dip mixture and spoon it into ramekins. Arrange the ramekins on a 12x10 baking pan, making them ready for their moment under the broiler. Slide the pan into the oven for about 4 to 5 minutes. Keep a close eye as the top transforms into a beautifully brown, bubbly, and slightly crisp layer.

While the Tuna Dip is broiling, prepare the buttered toast points. This simple addition will complement the rich flavors of the dip, making it a perfect pairing for your health-conscious gatherings.

To Serve, sprinkle with Paprika or Cayenne Pepper. For an added layer of texture and flavor, top with crumbled bacon and fresh chives.
