5 Rules for Living a Longer Healthier Life by Chef Charles Knight.

As a 77-year-old individual with excellent health, I have a message for everyone. How can YOU Live a Longer, Healthier Life? Take a moment to reflect on the elderly individuals in your life. What kind of life do you envision for yourself in your later years? Will you succumb prematurely to health issues, or will you make conscious choices to lead a life filled with vitality and wellness? Remember, it's never too early or too late to make positive changes for a Longer Healthier Life.

  1. THE FOOD YOU EAT. At our home, we prioritize the quality and healthfulness of the food we consume. By preparing our meals daily with fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats, we ensure that we are nourishing our bodies with the best ingredients. Our kitchen is equipped with surgical-quality stainless steel cookware, allowing us to cook using the waterless and greaseless method, which is known to be the healthiest way to prepare food. We steer clear of coated pans, recognizing the potential threats they pose to our health and safety. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of consuming fresh, unprocessed fruit and vegetable juices to support our overall well-being.
  2. THE AIR YOU BREATHE. Ensuring the air quality in your home and workplace is crucial for your well-being. The American Lung Association highlights the significant impact of poor indoor air quality on our health, including the risk of infections, lung cancer, and chronic lung diseases like asthma. It's essential to be aware of these potential health hazards and take necessary steps to improve the air we breathe daily.
  3. THE WATER YOU DRINK. Water plays a crucial role in our daily lives, from drinking to cooking and bathing. Considering that our bodies are made up of 90% water, it's essential to ensure the water we use is clean and free from contaminants. Chlorine, commonly found in tap water, can be harsh on the skin and lungs. Moreover, consuming chlorinated water can disrupt the balance of gut bacteria, leading to digestive issues like irritable bowel syndrome IBS, and inflammatory bowel disease IBD. It's important to be mindful of the quality of the water we use in our homes for the sake of our overall health and well-being.
  4. A DEEP RESTFUL NIGHT’S SLEEP. Sleep is for healing and rejuvenation. Our bodies are intricate electric generators, intricately linked to the fundamental elements that make up both our physical beings and the Earth. The presence of elements like H2O, oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus within us serves as the very building blocks of life. This highlights a profound connection between humans and the Earth. By sleeping on a grounding mattress for 6 to 8 hours every night, you can enjoy the benefits of being directly connected to the earth while you sleep.
  5. EXERCISE. It's important to maintain a balanced exercise routine to promote overall health and well-being. The recommended amount of exercise varies depending on factors such as age, fitness level, and health goals. In general, adults should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity. This translates to about 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Additionally, incorporating strength training exercises at least twice a week is beneficial for muscle health. Remember to listen to your body, start slowly if you're new to exercise, and consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new exercise regimen.
